The VirusScan product line and Virex are both available here free of charge, but SOLELY to members of the U-M community for use on their personal or work computers for non-commercial use.

Windows Users

• Windows 2000/2000 Server, Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, or Windows Vista: Browse to the U-M Preconfigured VirusScan 8.5 Installer web page; this release contains MASE 8.5, the 5200 engine from 01 August, 2007, "Patch 1", and the 5118 drivers from 21 September, 2007.

• Windows NT 4: Windows NT 4 users will need to install VirusScan 8.0 (8.5 seems not to work with NT4). VirusScan with the McAfee Anti-Spyware module already built in is still available via the U-M Preconfigured VirusScan 8.0 Installer web page.

Macintosh Users

• Mac OS X: There are no known viruses that infect machines running Mac OS X. Nonetheless, the University considers it prudent to be prepared and has made Sophos Anti-Virus available to Macintosh users.
