Subscribe to PC or Macintosh Antivirus Update Email Announcement GroupBruce P. Burrell (bpb@umich.edu)June 19, 1999 This information can be freely reproduced in any medium, as long as the information is unmodified. The PC Antivirus Update (PCAVU) and Macintosh AntiVirus Update (MACAVU) email groups get announcements of new antivirus software when it is available, and on rare occasions, threats that merit immediate action. We also announce email hoaxes, but only as part of the product upgrade announcements. On average, these groups get one or two messages per month, and since they are moderated groups, they get no spam. We've recently migrated from an X.500-based subscription to a listserver basis; this means that non-U-M folks can join or leave as easily as U-M members, which will leave a little extra time for the Virus Busters team members. Also, I hope, it will make subscribing and unsubscribing easier for all involved. One can subscribe or unsubscribe either by email or by a web interface. We recommend the email method immediately below, since it's faster, a bit simpler, and perhaps less confusing, but you may use the web interface further down the page.
Subscribing Via EmailWhen you click on one of the links below, another window will open that will fill in the email address supplied by your browser. Merely make sure your sending address is correct, then post the message. [You may need to use View All, or use Options -> Mail and News Preferencesor something similarto see the address your browser is using to send.]Finally, reply to the email message that will be sent to your account, confirming that you want to subscribe. You need not enter any text to the message; merely reply. That's all there is to it!
Unsubscribing Via EmailWhen you click on one of the links below, another window will open that will fill in the email address supplied by your browser. Merely make sure your sending address is correct, then post the message. [You may need to use View All, or use Options Mail and News Preferences, or something similar, to see the address your browser is using to send.]Again, that's all there is to it. Please check to be sure that your email address is listed correctly, and that the Subject: field has the word subscribe or unsubscribe, respectively, depending on whether you want subscribe or unsubscribe (both of these should happen automatically in most properly-configured browsers). If either is in error, please correct it appropriately or contact Virus Busters if you have problems, so we can add or remove you manually.
Subscribing Via the WebClick on the appropriate link below, and fill in the required fields (Email address and name). Then select "Save".Finally, reply to the email message that will be sent to your account, confirming that you want to subscribe. You need not enter any text to the message; merely reply.
Unsubscribing Via the WebMerely select the appropriate link below, and the web interface will open in a separate window. Fill in the email address under which you receive these messagesno password is required. Then select the "Click here to enter" button, and then select the "Leave (unsubscribe)" option, and confirm your selection. If you have any questions or problems, you may contact the U-M Virus Busters Team and we'll help to resolve any problems you might have subscribing or unsubscribing.
