The VirusScan product line and Virex are both available here free of charge, but SOLELY to members of the U-M community for use on their personal or work computers for non-commercial use.

Windows Users

• Windows 2000/2000 Server, Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista, Windows 2008, and Windows 7: Browse to the U-M Preconfigured VirusScan 8.7 Installer web page; this release contains MASE 8.7, the 5400 engine from 27 August, 2009, "Patch 3", and the 5936 drivers from 30 March 2010. VirusScan 8.7 supports both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows.

Macintosh Users

• Mac OS X: There are fewer than ten known viruses that infect machines running Mac OS X. Nonetheless, the University considers it prudent to be prepared and has made Sophos Anti-Virus available to Macintosh users.
